What's New?

The UK Government has formally notified the European Union that it will neither accept nor seek any extension to the Transition Period.

At the end of the Transition Period (1 Jan 2021), border controls for Eu goods imparted into england, Wales, and Scotland will be introduced in stages to give you more time to prepare. The Government will also be increasing the infrastructure at the borders to enable checks to be carried out, as well as providing £50 million of grants for customs intermediaries, traders, and hauliers that make customs declarations.

The UK Government has provided further clarity on the implementation of border controls from 01/01/21.

Controls will be introduced in a stages as below:

  • From January 2021 The Traders importing standard goods like clothes and electronics will need to prepare for basic customs requirements, which will include keeping sufficient ricords af imported goods and then will have & months to complete custams declarations. Tariffs will need to be paid on all imports, Payments can be deferred until the custorns declaration has been made.

On controlled goods like sicohol and tobacco, there will be checks Also, Physical checks at the point of destination or other approved premises on all High-risk live animals and plants

  • From April 2021 POAS-All products of animal origin like meat, pet food, honey, milk or agg, all regulated plants and plat product will also require pre notification and the relevant health documentation.
  • From July 2021 Traders moving all goods will have to make declarations at the point of importation and pay relevant tariffis. Full Safety and Security declarations will be required while for SPS commodities there will be an increase in physical checks and the toking of samples checks for animals, plants and their products will now take place at GB Border Control Posts.
